Overcoming a fear of flying with natural medicine

Fear of flying is also known as aviophobia. Aviophobia is an extreme and irrational fear of flying.

The degree of phobia or fear is not the same in everyone. Some people can have real panic to fly and others are just a little nervous.

Fear of flying is related to other types of fear like the fear of being in enclosed spaces, fear of heights, fear of not being in control, of turbulence, and to have a plane crash.

Some people have a fear of flying and in certain situations they are forced to have to do it, for business or a family visit.

The symptoms they suffer are dizziness, tachycardia, shortness of breath, vomiting, tremors and anxiety. In short, they suffer from what is known as a panic attack.

Remedies that help overcome the fear of flying

1. Argentum nitricum 15C

Argentum Nitricum is a remedy for people who are afraid of different things or situations, including fear of flying, fear of heights, these people themselves are fearful. They also often suffer claustrophobia or fear of being indoors.

2. Gelsemium sempervirens 15C

Gelsemium sempervirens is a homeopathic remedy for fear or anxiety. The patient feels weak and has shaking hands and feet.

3. Kalium phosphoricum 6D

It is a homeopathic remedy that works well in case of agoraphobia and sensitive people that respond with fear. Kalium phosphoricum is very effective against nervousness.

4. Aconitum napellus 30C

Aconitum is an effective homeopathic remedy in states of panic or panic attacks and extreme anxiety.

How to take these remedies?

There are two possible combinations:

  • Argentum Nitricum 15C with Gelsemium sempervirens 15C: start a month before having to board the plane. Five pellets of each are recommended, three times a day. On the flight day add another homeopathic remedy Kalium phosphoricum 6D. Dissolve in approximately 400ml of water: five granules of Argentum nitricum, five granules of Gelsemium sempervirens and five granules of Kalium phosphoricum. Drink in small sips, the day of the flight, starting from the first symptoms and throughout the flight.
  • Aconitum 30C together with Gelsemium sempervirens 15C: in this case it is important to first take Aconitum and 15 minutes later the Gelsemium sempervirens, five pellets three times a day. Start taking it three days before the day of the flight. On the day of the flight, take it more often if symptoms occur.

Phytotherapy

There exist marketed combinations of tranquiliser plants such as valerian, passionflower, lemon balm and linden. Taking these plants in tablets or drops help to relax and have a more pleasant flight.

Bach Flowers

The dosage of Bach flowers is two drops straight from the jar under the tongue, every 10 or 15 minutes if you are in the acute phase. As symptoms improve the dose can be spaced out.

1. Mimulus

The Mimulus is prescribed for fear of something known, a tangible and concrete thing. Suitable to treat fear of flying.

2. Rescue remedy

These drops are composed of a mixture of flower essences such as Cherry Plum, Clematis, Rock Rose and Star of Bethlehem. They are used for emergency situations of anxiety among them and fear.
