In homeopathy the tincture of Aconitum Napellus is prepared using the whole plant aconite, also known as monkshood or wolf’s bane. The preparation contains tyramine and dopamine.
The root of the aconite plant contains a toxic substance known as aconitine. Aconitum Napellus is a plant that is used to treat panic and the fear of death. It is also a medication that can treat acute neuralgic pain after having a cold.
With the Aconitum Napellus condition symptoms appear abruptly. It is prescribed for symptoms of fever, pain, panic or a state of shock. All the symptoms are established very suddenly.
What is the Aconitum Napellus personality like?
These people have lots of energy. It almost always shows in young people who are in good health. When they fall ill, they feel afraid that they are going to die.
This fear causes stress in the patient, and also anxiety and insomnia. The individual has panic attacks or extreme anxiety. These feelings appear between midnight to one o’clock in the morning.
What is fear like with an Aconitum Napellus individual?
Aconitum Napellus is a medication used to treat fear, panic and anxiety. The patient feels a deep fear and feels they are only waiting for what is going to happen next.
They are on alert and cannot sleep. Panic is written on their face. A good example of this fear can be found in the film “Saving Private Ryan“.
When should Aconitum Napellus be prescribed?
It should not be forgotten that the symptoms are established suddenly. Symptoms are severe and abrupt. These symptoms appear after: sudden changes in temperature, sudden fears and hypertensive crises.
Symptoms improve with perspiration and worsen with intense and abrupt cold, and also towards midnight. If the patient has a fever, it is very high.
Their face is red without sweating. The skin and mucous membranes are dry. An individual with the Aconitum Napellus condition has intense thirst, and craves cold drinks.
They have pains accompanied by a tingly feeling. They feel intense anxiety coupled with agitation.
Main clinical indications
It is prescribed as a remedy for all acute infections with high fever without sweating; it is always prescribed when the above symptoms present themselves. It is also prescribed in otitis, laryngitis, conjunctivitis and diarrhoea.
The patient can have insomnia. They wake up between twelve and one o’clock in the morning. Upon awakening they experience panic with palpitations and agitation, and they will remember having a nightmare.
This remedy is prescribed in tachycardia, haemorrhages, hypertensive crises and angina attacks. It is always prescribed for symptoms that appear after being cold or having suffered fear. Parallel to these symptoms, the patient suffers agitation, anxiety, and the fear of impending death.
The remedy Aconitum Napellus is prescribed for heatstroke, neuralgia after a cold, and in the sudden cessation of menstruation due to fear or because of a cold snap.
