Homeopathy is a very effective alternative in treating anxiety. It is neither toxic nor does it have secondary effects.
Homeopathic treatment for anxiety considers the patient in his/her entirety; what occurs in the mind and the body is treated simultaneously.
The efficacy of the homeopathic treatment is increased when the medicines treat the problems, feelings and emotions of the patient. It is essential that a treatment deals with the core problems.
A balanced diet, nutritional supplements, sleep and regular exercise along with homeopathic treatment are important in order to find balance and maintain health.
Anxiety often appears alongside fatigue, discomfort, sleeplessness, lack of appetite and a general impression of not being well. Stress is another factor that can cause anxiety. Very often, anxiety is accompanied by a tendency to feel depressed and by asthenia.
A patient with anxiety or mental anguish has feelings of shame. The physical symptoms of mental anguish during its critical or intense phase include a knot in the throat or stomach, fainting spells, cold sweats, tremors, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath.
Homeopathic medicines for anxiety
Aconitum is suitable for intense forms of anxiety, especially when the patient is ill. The Aconitum Napellus individual has a fear of death, which intensifies his/her anxiety until midnight. He/she also demonstrates anxiety after suffering an intense fright or feeling of horror. Palpitations of the heart and discomfort accompany anxiety.
Argentum Nitricum is suitable for anxiety caused by anticipation, for example an upcoming event or public speaking. Anxiety is shown via diarrhoea, cramps, vertigo or dysphonia.
Argentum Nitricum is also a good remedy if the anxiety is caused by claustrophobia, vertigo, irritation of the throat, or being in a rush where everything has to be done before its even begun.
Gelsemium Sempervirens suits anxiety with tremors, fear, feelings of inhibition or paralysis. Gelsemium Sempervirens is ideal to avoid anxiety while preparing for an exam or a sports competition.
Ignatia individuals are moody and their behaviour is paradoxical; for example they may smoke but the smoke bothers them, their behaviour is contradictory. They are very sensitive about being contradicted and improve by being distracted.
Ignatia individuals have the sensation of tightness of the chest and a knot in the throat. Physical symptoms include spasms and sharp and erratic pain.
The Chamomilla individual displays anxiety along with a quick-temper and a trouble-making character. Following the anger, the anxiety appears along with a certain degree of depression and sometimes abdominal pain. People with the Chamomilla Vulgaris personality cannot tolerate the slightest amount of pain.
In the Nux Vomica individual, anxiety almost always surfaces when someone contradicts them. They do not tolerate being contradicted and they become irritable and aggressive. Nux Vomica personalities have spasmodic digestive problems.
These are some of the medicines, of the many available in homeopathy, for the treatment of the symptoms of anxiety. However, if anxiety presents itself frequently then you should consult a homeopath so that a complete treatment can be prescribed.
The complete treatment should lessen the times of crisis or overcome them altogether. If the anxiety persists in a critical manner, homeopathy may not cure it but it can help the patient overcome the small problems of everyday life.
While patients await consultation with a homeopath they can choose one of the above-mentioned medicines that best suits their type of anxiety.
The dosage should be 9, 15 or 30 CH, once or various times a day, and the indicated dosage should be spaced out until the patient arrives at a weekly amount. The more it appears the more it should be diluted.
If you do not find a remedy here, you can take one of the following: Ansiprax (by Praxis Labs) or Nervoheel (by Heel Labs). These preparations are composed of different homeopathic medicines.
Both have a similar composition and both are very effective. A choice can be made based on price. Another alternative may be Sedatif PC, sold by Boiron Labs.
You can also take remedies with relaxing effects, such as Lenicalm or Dr. Recckeweg R-14. The latter includes, amongst other medicines, Avena Sativa, Humulus Lupulus, Passiflora Incarnata, Valeriana and Zincum Verarianicum, all of which are relaxants.
